While CS learners might be viewed negatively at times (perfectionist, inflexible, impatient, detail oriented, stubborn), their gifts lie in their great organization, their attention to detail, their tendency to always complete tasks, their productivity, and their dependability.
There are always personal traits that can be misunderstood when in reality what is going on is positive. For example, the abstract sequential child may seem to be aloof at times, may seem opinionated, may even seem argumentative on occasion, and when rushed, may come to a complete stand-still.
The concrete random learner can make you dizzy, startle you, amaze you with their inventiveness, and make you laugh and cry in rapid succession. However, one thing is for sure: Concrete Randoms are creative, dynamic people, and so worth the ride they will take you on.
I have spent a lot of time nose-to-nose with kids who had been sent to special education classrooms and have seen the resulting emotional pain. They carry the disability label as a brand on their hearts and minds. It colors everything in their world.
