How to Teach your Child About Thankfulness

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, now is the perfect time to teach your little ones about being thankful. While having a lesson planned on the topic might seem impossible, there are tons of crafts, books, and other projects that teach about gratitude while having fun!

1. Children's books

It might not seem like much, but this can be a great place to start. Your Vibrant Family suggests a few we think are great choices, such as:

I'm Thankful Each Day! By: P.K. Hallinan

Thanksgiving is for Giving Thanks By: Margaret Sutherland

The Berenstain Bears Give Thanks By: Jan Berenstain

2. Bedtime Routine

Make part of your bedtime routine a time where you talk about all the things that day that you are thankful for. A daily thankfulness recap can help instill a sense of gratitude in the child.

3. Thank You Letters

Write "Thank You" letters. Whether it is your child' birthday, Christmas, anytime your child receives a gift, have them write a thank you note or help them write a thank you note, to the giver.

4. Thanksgiving Hand Print Tree

Crafts By Amanda suggests a Thanksgiving Handprint Tree. A fairly simple craft where children can display all the things they are thankful for in a piece of art for everyone to see!

How do you teach your children about being thankful?
