EFM-CRC7

Easy-for-Me™ Children's Readers, Set C decodable books continue where Sets A and B left off,  including more advanced sound spellings. Sounds include long and short spellings for OO, OY and OI, R Controlled spellings, OW and OU, and so much more.

This Set of Readers also teaches over 120 new Snapwords® from Lists C and Nouns 1. They are designed to encourage and support students as they become skillful and confident readers. The 7-pack makes it easy to grab a group of children who are on a similar reading level, and tailor the lesson to them.

In addition to teaching phonics and sight words, reading fluency and comprehension activities are included in each Reader's lessons. The lessons included inside each Reader make it simple to prepare for effective reading groups. Because children are prepared before reading the books, they will be fully prepared to decode and then recognize new words.

For more detail regarding the skills taught in each Readers, please download the Scope and Sequence.

About Set C

Closed caption transcript

“Many children struggle to learn to read or find reading tedious. If we understand what is going on, we can make reading easier for them. One reason reading is hard is that our language seems to make no sense.

“For example, OUGH has 6 different sounds! In COUGH and TROUGH, OUGH sounds like OFF. In ROUGH, TOUGH, and ENOUGH, OUGH sounds like UF, while in THOUGH, OUGH sounds like OH. Oh! And in THROUGH, OUGH sounds like OOO, while in BOUGH and SLOUGH, OUGH sounds like OW! And yet, in OUGHT, BOUGHT, and FOUGHT, OUGH sounds like short O.

“Having to navigate these contradictions causes many children to just shut down. While we can’t change the structure of our language, we CAN teach it differently! Easy-for-Me™ Children’s Readers help bring order out of the chaos. Pre-reading activities teach all needed skills.

“Instead of trying to memorize all the rules and their exceptions, we highlight the patterns that exist in our language.

“Children’s Readers Set A teach all basic letter sounds and 59 essential SnapWords®. They get children reading and provide reading practice using a storyline that is saturated with words using that sound spelling.

Children’s Readers Set B, add long vowel spelling patterns and 59 new SnapWords®. We focus on fluency and comprehension. Children’s Readers Set C increase the complexity of the sound spellings. We also teach over 120 new sight words. Sound Spellings taught include short and long OO and the sound of OO spelled EW, OE, UE, and UI. We teach the spellings for one sound at a time, sound spellings and SnapWords® are taught at the same time, and then children practice reading with all the needed skills at hand.

“Make reading easy by demystifying the language! Start today.”

This Set includes 7 sets of 24 full-color, 12-page stories. Books are 5.5" x 5.5".
