By grades 2 and up, students need to become proficient in reading so they are able to efficiently read for other subjects. If they are struggling with reading skills, learning other content will be a challenge. Our SnapWords® Complete Classroom Kit will equip you to begin instruction on the level of each student, and will empower you to help all your students become skilled readers.

Skills addressed:

  • Reading fluency
  • Sight word recognition
  • Comprehension
  • Spelling
  • Correct word usage
  • Phonics
  • Sound spellings
  • Decoding unknown words

How to begin:

SnapWords® - In preparation for the year, pre-assess your students to determine their reading level. I suggest putting them into groups with children of a similar reading level for ease of teaching. You can use our assessment sheets if you would like to, or use your own. For Individual Sight Word Assessment click here. For SnapWords® Classroom Tracking Charts, click here.

Spelling and Phonics - Determine where each of your groups are by scanning the lessons in The Illustrated Book of Sounds & Their Spelling Patterns. I would suggest starting with a lesson that you are sure they know already because this will give students a chance to learn a new approach while still being successful. Follow the Daily Procedure instructions in the front of the book.
